Graduate program

The Graduate Program is a three-year program designed to assist companies in engaging, developing and retaining university graduates.

The aim of the project is to provide each graduate with broad exposure to the red meat industry, in addition to gaining specialist skills and training, which will enable them to develop their career in the industry.

Program overview

Participating companies provide gradates with a structured program during their early professional development years. Each graduate works on-site in accordance with their job description; however the development program offered by MLA allows them to interact with other similar graduates external to their company. This interaction will ultimately introduce new innovative ideas and technology to the site.

MLA assists participating companies to develop training programs and site-specific annual projects for each graduate and provides a technical expert to act as the graduate’s mentor. Each graduate is required to participate in a set program of relevant training, on-site work and professional development projects over the three-year period.

MLA also provides each graduate with an official induction program to facilitate networking with other graduates, ongoing workshops and review days, monthly newsletters, an internet based notice board and interaction with MLA on strategy development and industry initiatives.

This article from the April 2010 edition of MLA's feedback magazine focused on the Graduate Program.
