Career planning
There is a vast range of careers available within the meat processing industry. Not all of them involve processing meat.
Regardless of whether you are a student interested in entering the industry or you already work within the industry, planning your career pathway will ensure you achieve your goal.
Planning a career pathway
There are a number of steps you can take to plan your career pathway:
- Set career goals.
- Map your current skills, knowledge and attributes.
- Develop a career flow chart of where you are now, where you want to be and the steps you need to take to get there.
- Identify education and training opportunities.
- Prepare an evidence portfolio to support entry into a chosen course or qualification.
Further information
MLA has produced a Career Development Handbook for meat industry personnel wanting to plan a career pathway in the industry.
The handbook can also be used by human resource managers working with company personnel to develop career pathways, develop training plans or as part of the performance appraisal and management process.
