MLA initiatives
MLA is currently working in partnership with industry groups, state government bodies and individual sites to bring practical solutions to the industry.
Plant based retention project
Recently MLA partnered directly with six meat processing plants throughout Australia to undertake an extensive review of the attraction and retention issues and provide practical solution both for these sites and the rest of industry.
Recommendations for industry were based on identifying the factors that encourage people to stay in an organisation including their fit and links to the organisation and community as well as the sacrifices they would make by leaving the organisation.
Development of resources
A key group that MLA have collaborated effectively with in the past 12 months have been Food, Tourism and Hospitality Industry Skills Advisory Council (FTHSC) in South Australia. It was clear that the group’s state based strategy and activities aligned strongly with initiatives that MLA were undertaking from a national level.
As a result a number of projects were undertaken to directly address workforce issues such as development of the Employer of Choice, Career Progression and Fact Sheet resources. Additionally, workshops and consultation mechanisms including the retention roadshow were facilitated.
All of these resources have been developed to provide the industry with practical solutions to adopt in their organisations to address workforce issues.
