LEAP II Hindquarter Boning
Description
The LEAP II Robotic Technologies (RTL) hindquarter system separates the legs of a chump-on or scallop-cut hindquarter from the aitchbone. A robotic knife is used to free the tendons, while spreader arms apply tension to ensure that the maximum yield is attained.
Benefits
Benefits of the LEAP II Hindquarter Boning sytem include:
- Yield and efficiency improvements
- Occupational health and safety benefits
- Cost savings, with reduced labour requirements
Availability
The Leap II Hindquarter Boning system is available from Robotic Technologies Limited (RTL).
It is designed to be integrated with the LEAP III Primal Cutter, with the primal cutter automatically feeding several LEAP II units.
While operational in New Zealand, it is expected that the LEAP II system will require some modifications for Australian conditions. RTL and MLA are currently investigating potential collaborative projects with Australian processors to trial a fully integrated LEAP II and LEAP III system.
