De-Dagger
Description
The De-Dagger is a device to remove the excess volume of gross contamination or 'dags' that forms on the belly, flank, crutch and leg areas of lot fed cattle. It is based on mechanical cleaning with a fast moving rotor which removes the dirt without damaging the hide, with or without the use of a water spray. The dirt is removed by means of vacuum.
Benefits
Benefits of the De-Dagger device include:
- A significant reduction in the number of E. coli
- No quality defects on hides or meat
- Efficient removal of dirt (dags) and faeces
- A visually clean hide with a clean cutting line

Availability
The De-Dagger was launched commercially in 2004. However lack of demand and interest meant it had limited success and is no longer produced commercially.
